Boys, boys, boys!

Last year I did my final graduate research project on how boys learn and what I could do as a classroom teacher to reach their individual needs. One thing I learned is that boys aren't big fans of reading and in order to encourage them to read they need more books that are of interest to them. So, I created a proposal using an online charity called Donors Choose asking for more books for my boys. With generous donations from businesses and mothers of boys my proposal was accepted!! All my books arrived this year and my boys were exceptionally excited! Thanks to the wonderful people who made this possible.

Read To Self

Students are practicing how to building stamina in Read to Self. I was so proud that they made it to 20 minutes in the second week of school. Thanks first grade teachers for your great work!
